Re-opening of Walker Valley
ORV Trail System
Trails at Walker Valley that were closed for the winter on November 1, 2002 are open for use as of Tuesday April 1, 2003. Please be aware that some trails are closed due to logging impacts and there are four trails closed until construction of new bridges can be completed. Look for signs on the trails alerting you to these continued closures.
Two IAC grants dedicated to Walker Valley have been awarded to the DNR’s Northwest Region: (1) a capital improvement grant will be used to complete necessary major repairs and re-routes of existing trails as well as build some new trail. (2) A maintenance grant will fund a three person trail maintenance crew who will be responsible for keeping the trails system in good condition. With this increased focus on maintenance and improvements in addition to continued volunteer efforts, we hope that a winter closure will not be necessary at Walker Valley in the future.
