Hey guys. I was working on my CR trying to get the flat spot out of it and I took the carb off the ensure it is clean and all that.. It was. I checked the float and in the manual it said to measure it at 15mm over the main (high point) and to adjust with the float lip just touching the float valve. So I held the float just touching and adjusted accordingly. Upon reinstall and turning the gas on it overflowed. So I went back and adjusted it to 17mm. This is about half way between where it was and the 15mm. It didnt overflow and one bonus is that it was surging at idle and isnt anymore. The way the instructions in the book are written are not clear to me and confusing.. Any help is appriciated.

Is some other posts I have been working on a lean spot on the low end and I am now leaning toward the pilot starving. I hope this simple fix is the problem. If so it will be a great ride at paragon this weekend.

This happened to my 2002 CR125 once. The floats happened to get stuck i guess and my carb overflowed. Yeah it does say 15mm with the spring loaded pin berely touching the tab. And yeah you are supposed to measure the highest point of the floats while the pin is berely being touched my the tab (not compressed). Maybe you put on the carb on a little tilted. Your carb. is a weird one. I will do some resaerch and get back to you as soon as possible if i find anything.

Dirtrider, Thanks for the info.. I was at Paragon on Saturday and it ran much better. It is still a bit rich but I didnt have a smaller pilot. I had a 35 pilot and 3 1/4 turns on the air screw. Book has a range up to 3 turns so I am getting the 30. I also had the leaner needle (69) on the 3rd clip but need to try the stock one on clip #2. Didnt have the mid range. This is good. Finnaly getting it the way I want it. Dam fun bike. And it is a wierd carb. Weird slide. Thanks again and please let me know if you see any interesting 01 carb tuning data. I have a new cylinder and just bought the powervalve stuff. Going to send to Eric G to see what he is all about. Will have 2 set ups so use.
