I just bought my first 2 stroke an 01 rm 125. I've only ridden an xt225 and a dr 650 to this point. The guy didn't give me any manuals or tips just some cluch oil and the stock cdi unit. It has a fmf pipe and a racing cdi on it, I've ordered the owners manual and shop manual.
I want to ride but I want to change the oil, clean the filter, and check the coolant. Do these bikes take regular 50/50 antifreeze? Anything else I should do before riding? Is there a good site for 2 stroke newbies?

yes they take 50/50 antifreeze, make sure you oil the filter, look some where on the side of the case where you put the oil in, near the fill hole it will probally say how much oil to put in.(it won't be in ounces). i don't know if you know so no oofense, but clean the filter in kerosene(not gas) and then after that try to get the filter as dry as you can by"wqringing" it out. DON'T TWST OR CURL IT UP, IT MAY TEAR!! let it sit until it is completely dry, then apply a good filter oil. make sure the coolent is high enough so that it is level with the highest fins on the radiator.

a good few places to learn about 2smokes would be on eric gorr's site and read in the two stroke forum. there are many things you can learn here.

hope this helps. :)
