For tight MX mix of sand ,hardpack, slick wet clay at times. Generally want to leave it on all the time , use for motocross only.

What kind of change in throttle response can I expect for example when looking for a burst of power between small doubles?

Anybody used one on this bike ("they" say this year has a light rotating mass to begin with)?

Comments please

I've got an eight ounce Steahly on my 03 and love it.You're right .the flywheel is lighter on the 01.I'd go with the nine.
I don't notice a difference when the bike is on the pipe, but do when it's below the power band.It softens the hit as you go into the powerband, and gives the feeling that the powerband is wider than it is.
It's no problem to get that quick burst when you need it,just practice a little first. It also will make the bike less likely to stall with under hard braking. Doug

I may be the exception but I really don't like flywheel weights. I like the instantaneous hit that a light flywheel gives you. (and you're right, my'01 RM250 has a very light one) The weight slows down the hit oo much for my liking. I also had my engine ported by Eric for mo power everywhere and have V-Force reeds in the low tension setting. This set up gives me tons of low end power that lest me chug it with out worring about stalling it. I also ride a lot of woods and rarely stall it.

I do race MX with it.There is a LITTLE clutch work difference, but nothing major at all.I guess it just depends on what you're used to.I don't have any trouble at all with it taking longer to get on the pipe,it's just smoother, and hard for me to describe what it feels like.
A lot of people don't like them,I've got a bud with an 03 RM and he loves it just like it is.He does more MX than me,and is also a lot faster.
I do everything from slow trails, fast trails, and hare scrambles, including moto in the slowest class I can find!Speaking of faster than me,all those GNCC pros use flywheel weights on their two strokes.
A good thing about the Steahly is how easy they are to put on and take off,and you can get a good chunk of your money back by selling it if it Isn't for you. Doug
