02 65SX Locked up

02 65SX suddenly locked up. Kickstarter will not move. With the bike on the stand I can run through the gears so I don't think it is the tranny. I can turn the flywheel with a wrench when doing so the rear wheel will turn and I can push down the kickstarter. If I do not turn the flywheel the rear wheel and kickstarter are locked. Any help would be great. I plan on tearing into it tonight.

did you check the starter gear and spring at the end of the kickstarter shaft?

Thanks for the reply. I am going to take it apart as soon as I get home. Without a good manual on the bike I'm kinda leary about tearing into it.

Go back to KTMTalk. Pull up the drawing or use the ones in your parts manual.

Just pull off the clutch cover. You can do this without removing the engine. Take off the radiator hoses. Be sure to drain the radiator first. Take off the brake pedal. Then start to remove the clutch cover. If you wiggle it just right, it will come up and off of the kick starter shaft.
