02 ktm 250sx

I am considering buying a 02 ktm 250 sx and was wondering if anyone that owns this bike or has any time on one could tell me about it, the pros and cons, and what aftermarketparts are must haves to make the bike better.

Great motor, but the suspension needs work. Having it revalved for your weight and riding style will help a lot, also switching to 18mm offset triple clamps will help it turn much better.

how much more improved are the 03-04 ktms over the 02s

Both the 03 and 04 came with a steeper steering head angle and 14mm offset clamps. Not a good combination. They need a 20 or 22mm offset to make them steer right.
O3 suspension is not good, 04 is ok
03 motor has 49 hp and a hard hitting mid that is hard to control.
04 makes less hp but is much more usable.
If you can swing it the 05 is the way to go, New frame, good suspension,best 250 motor,and tripple clamps are ajustable between 18 and 20mm. also light, at 213 pounds.

yeah thanks elf, im probably gonna get an 05, since i gust got arrested running from the cops on the roads ( stupidest thing ive ever done, 9 tickets ) now ive have to sell my bike and sadly take this season off, but ill be back in the winter with a left over 05- possibly 06 from the dealer with some ice tires

newer adjustible PDS shock
One hell of a powerband
Otherwise i think everyting is the same
