I'm thinking about a change from a 200exc. Any info on the ec300 would be appreciated. How does it compare to the 300xc-w, how much are they and who is a good dealer with reasonable prices?

There are 2 major differences that I can think of:
1) KTM is a 5 speed while the Gas Gas is a 6 speed
2) rear suspension- KTM no linkage, Gas Gas has linkage.

The Gas Gas feels and handles like a Japanese bike and has a slightly smoother powerband. The KTM is a little lighter.

I bought my bike through SMS Racing in Denton, TX. They are well respected in the Texas area and quite knowledgeable on both Gas Gas and KTM as they sell both. I'm not sure what people are paying for them out the door as I bought mine used.

In my opinion you can't go wrong either way. I love 300's. They have the torque of a four stroke without the weight.
