Anyone in posession of one of these bikes? I think its the first monocross bike and Hakan Anderson won thw world championship on his. How much do the regular production ones go for? Were there even production ones in 73 or was that just the "works" monocross bike in 73? If anyone has one of these bikes, how much do they usually go for? i couldnt find one for sale anywhere.

The first YZ 250 offered to the public was 1974. the 74s had two shocks and 75s had one. 74 Yzs go for big money, core bikes sell for 2000 -3000 dollars if they are close to complete.

pryor, sorry about that. I got mixed up because the first year the IT400 came out it had a single shock and the year befor that the the YZ then got a single shock.

Whats a core bike? So the 1975 YZ250 would be the closest thing to the 1973 works yz250?

A core bike is a bike that is suitable for restoration. I don't know about the 73 factory works bike if it had one shock or two, I do know the 74 yz is a super cool machine that I would love to have and is obtainable if you have the funds.

go to www.mxworksbike.com

its a very nice website. Look at the rider of the month. Its Hakan Anderson and his World Championship winning 1973 yz250.

Check out everything else on there its great. Lots of very nice high res pictures of most of the works bikes in mx history .

Ive read somewhere about a 73 MX 250 (not YZ) with single shock. Maybe Motocross Action?

The '75 MX250 had a mono rear suspension.
