1979 Yz 400?

Hello,

Does anyone know what year/model YZ I have? The same serial number appears on the engine and on the frame's headtube. It reads: 1-W6-101784

I am fairly sure you have a 1979.

Never mind my last post you have a 77 400 something. I think you might have a IT400D or a YZ400D. Are you sure your part number is correct because all 77 modles stard with 1-W6. Here is the Yamaha Parts catologe.

Just put in you bike and thats it.

1W6 was either a 77 or 78 IT400.
You have to look at the serial number for the difference
00101 and above was 78

100101 and up was 79


The YZ400s were as follows: 77- 1W4
78- 2K8
79- 2X5
