Anyone have a solid answer if the '80 KX125 is allowed in the Gran Prix class? AHRMA indicates that no linkage rear suspension is permitted, but they specifically do not list the KX125. They do make a specific prohibition on the 250/500 class KX's. That inconsistency makes me think the 125 could be legal in GP?

Maybe more important, are parts for the KX's from that era ('78 - '80) generally available?

The 1980 had the 'Uni-Trak' suspension and as I recall were run in the Ultima class. The Full Floater, Uni-Trak, Mono-cross and Pro-link were put into the Ultima while the twin shockers were in the Grand-Prix. Parts are out there for those bikes. Many of the same parts were used on 78-81 with minor differences. If you look at the 'Historic' class rules it says the 78 KX125 'may' be legal, but they get bumped into GP.

Malcolm: I was an AHRMA coordinator (I lost a bet) and I can tell you for sure that the Uni-Trak makes this bike only eligible for the Ultima class. If there aren't two shocks back there, then it's Ultima, as that's the principal diff between Gran Prix and Ultima.

Thanks to all. That kind of seemed to be the case. But with the way the rules were written slightly different between the 125 & 250 GP class definitions, it sort of left the door open.
