I bought an 81 kdx 175 that was bought new and ice raced in conneticut for only one season in 82. When I bought it it still had studded tires and was in pristine condition.

I think I have a bad crank seal. since theres black junk coming out of the exhust. Also when warmed up it startes blowing whitish smoke. I keep an eye on the tranny fluid  and see no change. I runs awsome though and never ever fouls plugs. I run castrol "high performance" snowmobile oil at 32:1.

What do you guys think? any help would be muchly appriciated! :)

After sitting for so long I'd definately check the crank seals, give the carb a really good cleaning and inspect the air boot between the reeds/ carb and filter for cracks.

I gave the carb a good going through and checked out the left crank seal that had no leakage at all so they cant be worn

I did notice that the air boot is weather cracked, couldn't detect any leakage though. The exhaust leaks coming out of the cylinder and the silencer packing is all greasy does this effect it? Thanks for the feed back
