1981 yz250 clutch push lever assy. ??

I have a 1981 yz250 my push lever (the part where the clutch cable hooks up on the left side of the engine) I can pull it out of the engine with my fingers this does not seem normal. am I missing something that keeps it secured? and I cannot seem to manually push this lever far enough to disengage it when it is in gear.

The older bikes had some really feeble set ups, Need a good manual or an old parts fiche to see if there is a bb sized ball that goes in there usually close to the outer hub, and on that actuation arm sometimes they have a set screw with a pin on the end to stop it from coming out, some even had an adjustment for the clutch hidden down in the clutch itself.
