Hello, I just installed a new cylinder base gasket and a new head gasket on my 1987 CR500R. The head gasket and base gasket where both leaking before I replaced the seals, now that I've replaced the seals the bike runs much better (but not good) and it still leaks from the base gasket.
I torqued down the cylinder head in the proper pattern using a clicker style torque wrench to the manuals specs.
But I could use some advice as to how to properly torque down the cylinder onto the lower end, as I can't seem to fit a torque wrench in there. The best thing that I could come up with is torquing down the cylinder in an X pattern slowly using my "mechanics hand" with a combination of a regular socket wrench and open ended wrenches.
Aside from this I'm considering the possibility that the bike was overheated and that the cylinder, cylinder head, and lower end may be warped near the gasket surfaces. How much should it cost to have this checked out?
