1995 CR250r - Slipping kickstart ?

Ok, just picked up this bike. I am a quad and trike guy - these 2 -wheelers are new to me (but dam, they are sure fun). This thing screams like a scalded cat! Maybe I'm used to the slow lumbering Honda quads, but I can't see why anyone would want more speed or power out of a dirtbike, then what this think has - it's scary fast to me...
I did a search on my slipping kickstart and it looks like I need to inspect that spring...
Just wondering what to expect when I take the right side-cover off. Is the water pump going to be a problem? The clutch? I assume I am going to need a new gasket so I'll get that ordered as well...
Any help would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, anyone ever find the service manual for D/L anywhere? I think I've found every bike but this one, lol.

Take a close look at the spring as well as the 2 gears on the kick start shaft .
