Okay guys, I hate to open this great debate but I need some advice. I have just turned 15, I ride motocross & supercross and do it on a 2001 KTM 125sx & 250sx. It's time for new bikes. We just left the dealer still undecided. I think I would like to get a four stroke but my parents are not quite sold yet. Any advice or words of wisdom?

You probably know this but 2-strokes are better for supercross and the 4-stroke is better for motocross. It just depends on what you ride more.I would think you could get hurt faster on the 2-stroke.But the 4-stroke is faster on top end.You will be happy with either.I would consider the YZ250F becuse its an awesome race bike and you can also trail ride on it easier.I hope this helps.

i have the same problem. i won't be getting a new bike for a while, but i am bored with the 250's power and the decision of my next bike will come down to either the 520SX or 500AF. i like the 2 stroke characteristics, but hearing all i've heard about the 520 i think i would love it. oh well. i would suggest the yamaha 4 strokes, preferably the 426.

It's funny, I recently asked this same question in the thumper forum. I have always ridden two-strokes. Most of the answers that I got pretty much said to stick with what I am comfortable and familiar with. I thought that, asking in the four stroke forum, everybody would be trying to talk me into a four stroke, but instead they just said go with what you like. I guess it will be another smoker for me...;)

You're 15 with an 01 125 & 250sx?
You should be giving advice, not accepting it.

By the way, many would give their left nut for parents that will fork up 8-10 grand for 2 racebikes every year for their 15 y/o.:scream: You should help a few of them out, by sharing a bit of your secret. Or are you just lucky? My parents wanted nothing to do with my dirtbiking exploits.:(

nephron,
I'm lucky I guess, my parents have backed me 100% since the first time I ever touched a dirtbike. All they ever asked from me is to work as hard off the track as I do on the track. (They tell me to get as much as I can out of it because they are spending my collage education and inheirtence.
Thanks,
Jammertime
P.S
Is a new bike every year unusal for someone who rides all the time? They are serveced regulary etc. and we still end up using tie wire and duct tape.
