What exactly are the main differences between the two stroke and 4 stroke? I don't exactly mean mechanically, i mean in terms of advantages and disadvantages of trail riding. My bike will mostly be all trail riding, and ive read up on the engines, but would like opinions of those that have more experience and knowledge :coocoo: . Thanks, Chris

There are hundreds, possibly even thousands of posts on this subject. You would be well served to spend a few minutes searching the archives...you'll be reading for hours.

There are 4 strokes designed for different applications - from play bikes (XR and TTR to name two) to race bikes (CRF, YZF, KXF/RMF & SX). Most 2 strokes are motocross bikes, the exceptions being the KDX's and KTM-EXC's. The aforementioned bikes are awesome woods bikes.

There are other manufacturers besides the "big five" too. A good place to start looking is a local dealership. As a new owner you're going to need their help, even if you buy used.

Here check this out.....

Hopefully that will clear up the difference between the two. Which one is better....that will ignite a kind of Chevy versus Ford argument. Both have their pro's and con's. You will just have to see which bike will suit you best in what kind of riding you plan on doing. Do your research and go from there. There is also a wealth on knowledge in some of the posts' in here......as suggested in the previous reply. The forums are also free versus buying books.
