2 way radio

I’m looking for 2-way radio information. I don’t know much about it after you get passed the standard 14channel walkie/talkie for 19.95. These work fine and have good range but at the races there’s just too much chatter from kids playing around with them. But I want something better and don’t know what to get. I have found UHF and VHF and FM but that don’t mean anything to me. I have found a set that says UHF/FM 400-480 MHz and has a key pad kind of like a phone. Would this be something you could set up on an isolated channel? Not looking to spend a zillion dollars or anything but just enough to get something that works well. Any help would be appreciated.
