Anybody switch the carb on a 220 from the 33mm to the 35mm? If so, did you use the needle from the 33mm in the 35mm. Fredette recommended the 220 needle for the switch. Is this a leaner needle? 1173(220) vs. 1174(200)

If you switch carbs your going to want to use something other than the funky stock needles. Something along the lines of a CEL or DEL will really wake up your 220 along with a carb swap.

Got the carb yesterday, installed the 220 needle on the 2nd notch from top & installed on bike. I do need to fine tune the jetting but its not bad. I turned the air screw in all the way and backed out about 3 turns. Now does this indicate the pilot is small or big and I should change to which?? 3 turns brought the idle down from a somewhat high to the idle speed I prefer. I have the following mods:

1-Lid Free Air Box
2-Gnarly (Rev) Pipe
3-Turbine Core 2 S/A
4-Torque Ring
5-Boyseen Power Reeds
6-35mm (200) Carb w/stock Main,Pilot & 220 Needle (1173) in place of the 200 (1174)

The air screw should be set at or near where it makes the bike idle the highest. Then set your idle speed using...........................the idle speed screw.

3 turns out would mean too rich of a pilot jet. But since you went past the optimum setting to get to 3 turns out I would get the air screw set properly before messing with the pilot.

My mistake. The air screw I did,nt turn I was refering to the Idle screw. I threw in a 42 pilot last night and the bike responds pretty well now. The ceramic is a dark & light brown as well as dry. Maybe I will try a smaller main and see what happens. This bike revs more now.
