Has anyone ever converted a KX to a KDX. I ride a 93 KDX 200, My son rides a 01 kx 125, and it is a little too much for him currently, we want to gear it down and lower the seat hight if possible. Has anyone ever attempted this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A lot of people have used the newer 125 frames with the 200 motors. Fredette and others have parts for the swap. I know that Dynoport makes a specific pipe for this also.

You would be better off getting a low end pipe, 12T counter sprocket, lowering links and cutting the seat foam on the 125 down IMHO.

Thanks for the info, but kinda want to stay with the KX 125 motor. He has a platinum pro circuit pipe on it, and really am looking for a way to lower the seat hight a bit. He is a fairly decent rider for 13, but in the woods, when he stops, has a hard time reaching the ground if it is not level.

In increases the rotational mass of the crankshaft, allowing the engine to run at lower rpm's without stalling. Without this you have to clutch-n-rev a 125 in the woods.

Thanks for that info, think that would help quite a bit.

There was a thread like a month ago that had a website for lowering links. I think it was like KubaLinks.com or something. Try a search and you might come up with something.

In the September Dirt Rider mag. they tested Fred Andrews KX250, which was lowered in the rear by longer pull rods. They were from Pro Circuit, I would try calling them. Maybe they also a set of pull rods for your KX 125.
