2001 vs 2002 yz250 fork question

Hey guys, I ordered the wrong part number Race tech gold valve kit for my forks. I needed the kit for a 2001 YZ250(FMGV 2832) and I ended up ordering the kit for 2002 YZ250(FMGV 2830). Will it work in my forks with a minor mod maybe ,or will it bolt in,or will it not work at all ? Whats the differance between the 2001 & 2002 forks?

I dont think these will work. Notice ther last two numbers in the part number...30 and 32. I believe this refers to the cartrige size. If so, the older kit will be two millimeters smaller.

Actually looking at the part numbers on http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/home.aspx shows that 2001 and 2002 use the same inner and outer tubes, and share the same springs. They are not, however, the same upper-level assembly number. Looks as though some things were changed in the valving so your part may not work anyway. Mr. Wilkey will have to resolve this one.
