So i just bought a yz250f today. Its a 2001 and i got it for 900 bucks. There is nothing wrong with the bike. Vavles were just adjusted 2 hours ago, and top end was check also 2 hours ago. Everything seems good. I know it doesnt like to run well when its cold. The guy gave me 2 extra jets with it and was wondering what size to use.

Im pretty sure he gave me a 45 and 48 and im guessing i should put the 48 in. Is it easy access to the carb on this bike?

Also whats the easiest way to start it. Im brand new to four strokes, this is the first one ive owned.

anyone on the jets?
Not without more info such as your altitude, temperatures, and fuel. If you look in a Yamaha manual for your bike it will have a chart telling you the preferred jets for those conditions you are riding in. Also those numbers do not coincide with the numbers I have for our YZ250fs. You also need to change both the pilot and main to the job correctly.

Im in Milwaukee WI, not sure on the altitude, but right now its about 30-40 degrees out consistently. Sometimes a little colder. I didnt get a manual with the bike so there for i cant look.

If the seller had extra jets it is probably because they are left over from when he adjusted the jetting. If you bought the bike locally and haven't made any changes I would expect that the jetting would be correct.

Do you have reason to believe that it is not?

You should go out and buy yourself a manual for your bike. The after market ones are fine and cost a lot less than OEM manual.

I do believe it is wrong. He said the jets he gave me were the ones he ran in the winter for riding on the ice. and i know he didnt change it yet. Also i have no idea where i am on the fuel screw.

That thread is based on a 2t, so the air screw is N/A and the fuel screw is turned the opposite direction on your bike.
