2002 400sx water pump

anyone be able to help with a blowup of the water pump insides for this bike. my shop manual is not helping and i am losing coolant out the "whee" hole. i assume it needs o-rings and what not. don't want to break anything. where do i start and what do i do? thanks kindly

This is a common RFS issue.
I am sure someone can point you to a ktm talk thread that covers the seal and brg updates.

VERY common. Go to KTMtalk.com and search the data base. There are numerous posts and links on how to do it. It's tricky, but not difficult.

its your wp seals. that is what the weap hole is for (letting you knw they are leaking). its not a big deal to fix, you really only need to buy the 2 seals (i think they are p/n 0760101842). but, go ahead and get the seal support and the 2 orings. they are all cheap parts and you will only need to drain the coolant, remove the cover (get that gasket too just in case), the impeller and the valve train cover. the only other thing you will need is some sealant for the top cover.

thanks, all is well now and i rode about 70k's this w/e with no more leaks.

Yeah, the seals are pretty delicate and can leak and then stop. I guess it is just small grit caught and then freed out of there.
