Hi guys:

I posted a simliar question a couple weeks ago and got no response.

My recently purchased 02 rm125 has a Bill's Pipe and silencer.

There is a strange "flat spot" in the upper mid range where it feels as if the bike has peaked. Maybe about 2/3 throttle. The flat sport lasts maybe 1000-2000rpm. Then if you gas it, the bike takes off hard.

Having ridden on and off for 25 years, this does not feel like a "normal" powerband to me.

Any ideas? Could it be the Bills Pipe?

Thanks

Rob

sounds like a 125 to me!!!!!! its missing the other 125 cc's!!

just kidding. 125's in my experience do have a dead "lull" in them - usually in lower end (or lack thereof). where do you feel this transition most? It could just be the powerband coming to life - or your p-valve could be coming to game late.

It's upper mid (guessing) 8000-9000 rpm range. Maybe it's normal, but I've not ridden anything like it before. It's not really a problem as there is tons of power on top and the range above the flat spot is wide enough to "keep it on the pipe". It just seems a bit odd for a curve to rise slowly, hit, flatten and then hit again. . .

have you messed with your main jet at all? Could be to lean or to rich causing it to fall flat once in the higher RPM's
