does anyone own a 2002 rm250? I'm probably picking one up this week and would just like to know how you like this year of rm and if you had any problems with it. thanks for any information
I had an 02 RM 250, the only problem I had with the bike was the top of the piston above the rings on the exhaust side broke off. I did end up having to get a new cylinder which was $450.00. They are a little pricey on cylinders. Other than that, the stock seat foam breaks down after a while and gets pretty mushy. Those were the only problems I had, but I loved the bike. I have an 03 RM 250 now, and I had a similar piston problem. This one didn't break, but it cracked. Both pistons were the original pistons in the bike. I have been running Yamalube at 32:1. I don't know if this is a manufacturing problem with the pistons, but wanted to give you a heads up.
kx biker,
where are you getting it? because i picked up an 03' rm250 from prosource for $2340 otd. i know f&s in ohio has multiple 03's for $2500 or less plus you dont pay tax.
might want to look into it. keep in mind they are used also but mine is flawless.
Actually, i'm going to f&s tomorrow to look it over. I didn't know that i wouldn't have to pay sales tax. That'll save me close to $200. thanks for the info
my bike from prosource was a race bike. i think f&s are the same because they offer cash back for winning. i glad i bought a race machine, the maintenance is seems to be better.
If you purchase the bike there, you will have to pay tax. They will not assess you tax if the bike is shipped to you out of state (but if your state taxes when titling, you will have to pay it then). If tax is not assessed by anyone, you are still responsible for "use tax" although nobody pays this.
