i found a brand new cr250 leftover at a dealership in town they want 4600 for it they also have a 05 yz250 for 5000 is the cr worth it or should i go with the yz. i alo found a 98 yzf400 in pcs for 850 would it be worth getting putting it togeathe and selling it .i dont no if their is any demand for them.

For people who have no initial brand loyalty, I think the YZ would be the better buy. Even if you choose the CR, $4,600 seems like too much.

That's a good price on the YZ. Someone has one in the for sale forum for 4100 shipped, also. I think the CR is a bit high, but that's just me. I'd pass on the 400. Way too many unkowns with a bike that age, plus lots more parts being a 4stroke.

i think i might try talking them down to 4000 for the cr that seems about right but first i got to sell my 02 rm250 no dealers take trade ins anymore

a few months ago, i was offered a new left-over '03 cr250 for $3300. i wasn't in a position to buy at the time. shop around.

I'm a idiot I guess I bought a 03 CR250 left over in October for $4599 but here it was the cheapet new bike I could find. Go figure bikes in high demand with few places to ride. I love the bike I wanted a Honda every time I had something different. But if I had it to do over I'd at least ride a Suzuki.....For some reason I'm not a Yamaha guy/ and what's weird is that's what I grew up with and loved. I just don't like the feel.......I've rode KX's and KDX's for years and to me they're "user friendly" I'd love a Husaberg or someother exotic 4-stroke, but can't afford the mainteince.

Probably not. Bike prices seem to be really location sensitive. CR's seem to be popular here in NM, so $4,600 might be a good deal here. But I think on average, it may be high.

All the "internet deals" I found weren't deals......they kept adding on fees. The deal was my wife was inbetween jobs....and I sold a project Corvette. She said "Honey i know you didn't want to sell that car" and she was right. I had also sold a nice orginal 87 Hurricane 600 which you don't see anymore. But you do what you got a do when you got a $1600 mortage LOL. She found me this bike and suprised me with it.....so how could I be mad? gotta Love her! Suspension is awesome I'll fix the motor, plus I haven't owned a new bike since I was 14. I'm still smilin'

Yeah, the rest of the bike is quite exceptional. Make the power delivery suit your style, and it's an awesome bike. :cool:

I bought an 03 cr this spring for $2500 then I sold it for $3500 in august.

Wouldn't even think twice about it the YZ250 would be in the garage. Good luck selling the CR in 2 years.

see i have a 02 rm250 with tons of extras im trying to sell as soon as i do ill be looking more into the yz if its still their.i also would be interested in a trade if anyone has a newer 250 id give my bike plus cash

I don't think any 250 2-stroke will sell well in 2 years. I suppose that's only a problem if you need a certain amount of money out of it. My ride buddy just bought a brand new crated '05 YZ for like $4,800 shipped to his door. The dealer couldn't move it.

BTW, it's far easier to find cheap used YZ's than CR's in my area. CR's are just really popular here for some reason.

I usually purchase a bike, based on which dealership has the best parts availability. It is always nice when you need a part, and you can go to the shop and they have it on hand, although some shops (I've heard) don't stock parts. So I'm assuming this dealership has both the bikes? If that's the case, I'd go with the newest model.

One of the reasons I ended up with a CR. But my Yamaha dealer isn't too bad either.....
