I just spotted this bike for sale. Looks nice and clean. Has an FMF Gold Series pipe. Comes with helmet and boots (Boots wouldn't fit me) and some other extras. It looks like they have marked it down from $3600 to $3300. I've seen it around a few times in the last month. The bike looks clean. It's a little out of my price range, but I was wondering if this is a good deal for an 03' Suzuki?

Thanks

The 03 is one FUN bike!... although the arm-stretching lower-midrange hit is quite a handful on anything but a high traction MX track. I really like Suzy's...but they're not known for carrying a real good resale value. I'm thinking the lower 3's is a good starting point for a clean 03. Set aside about $200 for a good aftermarket clutch basket...stock won't last...I promise.

So, in Noob terms it is a squirly bike in the dirt through the lower-midrange powerband? Does it wake up and try to through you or does it get loose traction wise?

Didn't mean to make the 03 sound so scary... I think it's an awesome bike!
For conditions like MX, I think it could use another 6 oz's or so of flywheel. All 03's are fussy about jetting and run well when dialed in. I ride slippery, tight woods, where the "hit" was a handful. The biggest improvements I made for a more "friendly" power delivery were fairly reasonable... 12 oz. weight (custom made with a alum. side-cover "shim"), V-Force reed cage, Yamaha's 5 mm reed spacer (bolts right up). MUCH more torquey and predictable now, but still WAY fast!
