i bought an 02 with a fmf sst pipe on it. when i put the stock pipe back on it the low end got better.
i also have a 13 oz weight and one tooth taller in the rear.
man my girl sure is slow but i am beating all the people i used to beat by more distance and i am having a ton of fun.
i'd like to ride a bike with a real motor to see what i am missing but i sure am digging this old girl. she gets going pretty good when getting up into the powerband. i am an A rider though so maybe that is why i can sacrifice the low end and still get around, hell i don't know, just know that i love this bike.
Sounds good how do I advance the timing please? Also is 101 octane gonna be enough?blackjack said:Best engine mods for '02-06 Cr's-
- Fmf/Pro circuit pipe with shorty muffler
- Steahly flywheel
- JD jetting kit
- Tassirini or Boyeson reeds
- MX Bonz 5mm exhaust spacer
- advance timing
- Wisecon piston with .010 Cometic base gasket
Do your suspension - make sure ride height and springs are correct, then revalve for better impact compliance.
I run my '02 in the woods 3rd gear with 14 front and 51 rear sprocket (taller than stock).

I would gadly buy some race fuel. As I don't use much, but I don't have a source..........is it possible to buy online?motometal said:You MIGHT get by with pump fuel...in my opinion it's borderline too low octane for a crisply jetted stocker, let alone advancing timing etc. You can't always hear when they ping. I'd run at least 50% race fuel, how much fuel do you go through?
