2004 YZ125 Questions??

I am thinking of buying a 2004 Yz 125 and was wondering if any yamaha guys had any tips on this bike. I am kinda a honda guy so i don't know if this was a good or bad year for the yz. Any knowledge would be great, thanks.

I would not buy it. It is the last year of the 5sp tranny. The 125s really do MUCH MUCH better with the spread of the 6sp units. 05 is the first year of the aluminum frame, better suspension and 6sp motor. 06+ is ideal as they updated the suspension to the SSS forks.

Plus you can find 05-07 bikes for $2200 around if you shop long enough.

personally I like the 5speed tranny better, I'm a light guy and don't really need the extra gear to keep the bike on the pipe - but that's just preference.
But I still agree with the post above, suspension and chassis are way nicer on the 05/06+ yz's... if you can find a resonable price on one of them go for it.
