2004 Yz450f??

I have an opportunity to get a new 04 YZ450F for a good deal and was wondering if it really is as potent as what I hear. I would say I'm a beginner/intermediate rider. I'm coming off of a 1988 RM 250, so this would be quite the upgrade. I'm debating between the 450F and a 2005 YZ250. I'm really looking for a bike that will be great for me to develop on as well as something I can grow into. Any thoughts?

my neighbour traded in his YZ250 for the 2004 YZ450 4 stroke. and it sounds like he likes it better than the 250.

Tough call. I'd take either of those bikes. If you are a slacker at all in the preventive maintenance department, go for the 05 250. Otherwise, I say flip a coin. Can't you afford both?! ;)

Tough call indeed. Both are great bikes with plenty of power. Do some homework on the required four stroke maintainance and decide from there. :cool:
