2010 KX250F does not start cold

Hi,



I just picked up a 2010 KX250F.



I went through it and gave it a major service before anything as it looked not too well maintained. I checked and adjusted the valves and they are within the ballpark. New spark plug, filter etc.



The problem I have is that the bike flat out refuses to start when using the choke and when cold. I have tried giving it gas, no gas, one twist, two twists, choke, no choke, it seems the only way to get it to fire is to give it a pump of throttle then hold it only slightly open. I have tried adjusting the idle, the bike has a 42 pilot jet (it had a 45 when I got it) and the fuel screw setting is two turns out. When it does start the choke does increase the idle, and when it has started and warmed up for a few minutes it starts real easy from then on.



Otherwise the bike runs fine and has plenty of power and no further issues.

I always had to blip the throttle once and then hold it about a 1/4 turn to get my YZF to start cold. It was hot starts that wore me out. Maybe not the answer you are looking for, but it worked for me. Bike ran great.
