I am same size as you and I was off dirt bikes for 23 years, started back up last year when I was 57years old. I cut the seat down on my cr125 and put on a gripper cover.

Welcome to the site and welcome back to dirtbikes

First ... thanks for setting up your User CP and updated information relating to your location. Grab a spot on the couch. We will do our best to hook you up with some fellow dirt bike enthusiasts.

Second ... Although I am a bit taller, I have a 31 inch inseam and it has caused me more than a bit of pain and aggravation over the years since getting back on a bike in the late 90's. Check out Kouba Link. I just installed a link on my XR650R and it lowered the bike (advertised) 1.75 inches. I didn't measure before and after, but can easily tell the difference between my bike and stock XRs. You can likely raise the fork tubes a bit as well, but be careful that you don't change the steering to much as it will cause head shake on some bikes. You can also take your suspension to a suspension shop as I did for my KTM200MXC. I lowered it an inch and took a similar amount out of the foam, as Jim did.

Third ... What part of NC are you in? Check out the Southern Spodes forum for opportunities to hook up with fellow DRNers. Another good group is the Damn Yankee Dirt Riders. Watch their forum for information on an upcoming spring ride at Paragon Adventure Park in central PA. There was also a ride at Hatfield-McCoy last spring and we are looking at a Mini DirtWeek for the springtime as well.

Bottom line ... things are popping around here and we are always willing to help out. :)

Again, welcome to the site and shout if you have any questions!

thanks, for the warm welcome and the good advice on the the suspension.i'm checking out the links to see if it will void my warranty. and i have cut down the foam a bit . that helped alot but, still need another inch for added safety. i would feel much better with at least one foot flat to the ground without sliding to the side when stopping.the part of n.c i am located is western piedmont with acess to a number of great trail systems like urrawarriee nat. forest+pissgah andbrushy mt. motor sport park plus a couple more.this area is ditbike &fourwheelin country.may be where it all started.im not sure of that thou .
