"68S" pilot jet for 650?

I have a 2002 xr 650 which I just ordered the "full power " kit for but the honda shop from where I ordered said that there is no such thing as a "68s pilot jet". Upon further questioning, the parts manager said there the "s" merely stands for slow jet. Do any of you have experience with the "68s" jet for the xr 650. Is so I would appreciate replies.

I would also appreciate finding out what came with the full power kit(muffler insert, main jet 175, comp. needle and intake manifold).

Yes, in fact there is a 68s pilot jet. I believe a lot of people are using it to try and control overheating the bike at slow speeds.

The "full power" kit should include a non-restrictive carb insulator, a freer flowing exhaust tip, a 175 main jet, and a different carb needle. You also have to take out two restrictions on the airbox. The bike straight up hauls after you're done doing all this.

Parts mgr is full of it.

Tell him to look it up on the parts fische/computer for the XR650R. It does help overheating. The 68s is different than normal 68 Kehein pilot/slow jets.

Keep an eye on your right footpeg bolts, retorque every 300 miles. They are a weak point on the bike.

Hey Guys,
I really appreciate all the good replies. As of right now I'm depressed with my purchase with the 2002 xr 650. I ride 1rst,2nd and sometimes 3rd gear trails. I now find that this is the exact kind of riding which will boil the xr 650 over. Have you or anybody else done anything to get rid of the problem. I have set a time limit of one month to solve the problem or the bike will be sold. As of now the bike is not worth a #$%^ to me. I new I should have bought a YZ 250.

If you haven't done the full power mods yet, the bike will overheat pretty easily. I ride a lot of tight 1st and 2nd gear trails on my 650, and I've never had a problem with overheating.....in fact, the coolant level in the overflow tank never even rises.

Have you guys heard of Evan Coolant. It is has been recommended to me by many who have 650s which have overheated. This coolant is formulated for racing street bikes. The people who use this coolant say that it totally eliminates boil overs no matter what speed you do.
Any info?

I don't run the Evans in mine...I have never boiled over. Many do run this coolant and the concesus is that it works. Also some will run a different pressure radiator cap. Don"t give up on her yet. Boiling over. Yup, another weak point of the bike, but I only boiled in extreme A loop first gear stuff.

1. Remove the thermostat.
2. Buy an optional KX500 1.6 radiator cap.
3. Put in the 68S pilot. Uncork and jet properly

The XR650R is exactly the wrong bike for tight trails. What the heck were you thinking. Why not an orange bike?

Before I bought this thing (xr 650) I was seriously considering a KTM but the nearest shop is 230 miles away and the nearest Honda dealer is 12 miles away. I also ride with some of the owners. I gues you learn these things the hard way. My next bike will be a KTM
