80wt. or 85wt. gear oil in winter

Does it matter that much if you use 80wt. or 85wt. in winter time. I was under the impression that you should use the 80wt. in winter and 85wt. in summer, or is it the other way around?

The heavier the weight will probably shift notchier in the winter, go with the thinner one. The summer, you can get away with the heavier weight due to the temp. It might vary from what your bike will take though so you should try both and see.
