My maintenance book says to mix 20:1 for my 88 CR250. Who else is doing this? I have 32:1 in it right now, and its not running as good as it did when I was running 40:1 in it last week. Anyone got some input on this? I changed because the book said 20:1, and I had 40:1, I thought I would mess my bike up doing this, but I'm not sure one way or another.

Almost all the manuals on the older bikes said 20:1. But a lot of people run 32:1 with great results as do I.

I took it for a long ride today with the 32:1 and its running beautifully. Now if only I could get the thing to idle...

If you ran the proper ratio for that bike you would have a lot less issues jetting. So for some bizzaro reason you run at the wrong ratio for that bike. Running at 32:1 you are putting more gas through the engine than it was designed for. How hard is that to understand? A guy said, well its not running right, I could save money, or another brand has a different ratio is all a bunch of bs.
