Hello, I am rebuilding a set of 1988 YZ250 forks to put on an old TT500 and need to know what the stock oil weight was as well as the correct level to fill them to? I had been told by one source 140mm, but how is this measured? Any help would be very much appreciated as I don't really want to buy manual just for these 2 pieces of info. (have manuals for the TT)

Thanks,
Don

They used 5wt back then? I thought 5wt was used in later forks (upside down) I used 10wt and after riding it I have to agree with you and going to change it to 5wt.

Thanks for the link to the how to on rebuilding forks.

they started with 5 weight oil on cartridge forks (doesn't matter if normal or upside down). I think Yamaha had them since 1987 - 1988 I am shure the YZ had cartridge forks
