I took out my newly purchased kdx200 for a couple hours of trail riding and wanted to get opinions on idle settings. This bike does not idle but dies even warm unless I am giving it gas all the time. Is this common and just requires messing with the carbs some? A friend mentioned that a lot of 2 strokes dont idle without giving gas so that if you fall off, they just die.

I was running 40 to 1 with nice amsoil mix and the bike starts cold with one or two kicks no choke. I am VERY please with the bike. What a great trail bike!

Thanks guys!

No, there's something wrong and it could be a number of things. These bikes are suposed to stay started at idle. Have you adjusted the idle screw on the carb? Do all the routine maintenence: air filter cleaning, replace spark plug, remover and clean the carb.
