I have been out of dirt bikes for a while but am looking to get back into trail riding. I have been looking at bikes in the $1500 range and have found a 91 RMX250 with a fairly new top end for $1300 and a 88 KDX200 in similar condition for $1000. The KDX looks like its had a rougher life but also has a lot of newer parts. I had my heart set on a 250 or above 2-stroke because I weigh in at almost 240. I'm wondering if the KDX would have enough spunk to haul me around. I will be riding mostly on open trails with not a lot of tight technical stuff. I do like to catch some air when the oppurtunity presents itself so I'm a little concerned about the KDX. I have rode a lot of 2-strokes but havent worked on any so I was wondering how hard a top-end job is and about how much it would cost as far as parts.

My brother in law had a '91 RMX and never had a problem with it, and he bought it used... But the KDX might have a better source of parts.....
The RMX was quite choked and in stock form was nothing like a 250mx bike...
