96-01 YZ 250 conversion to 02-06

I just bought a decent condition 1997 YZ 250 and am in the process of looking for new plastics and graphics but i havent found what i wanted. Looking at graphics for a 02-06 model bike there are many more and many that i would rather have then any of the kits you can get for a 96-01. My actual question is if its possible to convert the plastics to the newer models? I predict ill have to do some fabrication on it but i have most of the tools to do it so no big deal there. Thanks for any input on this

Check out the auction site and search for "keepitroostin". This guy parts out running bikes. You can get complete plastics, tank, and seat from there at real reasonable prices. You will have to fab up some brackitry. Good luck.

you would need a new tank and a new airbox, and relocate the side pannel mounting brackets

You should spend the money on a cylinder spacer and long connecting rod kit. That year YZ really benefitted.
