96 KX250 fuel issue

My buddies 96 250 uses waaay too much fuel,We have a 99 250 that rides right with us and they are relatively close on power with the nod to the 99.His 96 uses a little bit more than my CR500.He has a P/C combo and the jetting is near stock.

Does the float stick up while he rides?

Anythings possible but it all looks good and doesn't leak gas nor smell of it.The bike shows signs of high wear all over but runs generally good. :coocoo:
