The 02 has a third generation frame and a different motor. I would say unless there is something wrong with the bike you got, then i would just keep it. I just recently picked up an 02 about three weeks ago and still haven't really gotten to take it out but i believe what i've heard in that it is a good bike as long as you get it running right. And from what i can tell riding it down the road that it most definitely is not. I had an 01 CR125 and sold it for a gsxr600. After four years of that i decided to get back into the dirt stuff. And i swear my 125 would kick this 250s ass. The 02 has the electric powervalve and after adjusting the cables it has made a world of difference but i'm still not sure it is as fast as it should be. I've never ridden any other 250 so i really don't know what its supposed to be like though. Maybe 4 years on a sportbike has changed my perception of speed.
Can I ask what the reason you are thinking about switching is?
