Hey

I have a 99 yz 125 with a fatty pipe and I am going to buy an fmf shorty pipe and I want to if I should change my rear chain wheel to 50 instead of a 48 to get some more horsepower. If you have any other suggestion please tell me I don’t want to spend more than $500

Best money spent on that bike would be on the crank. Look into crank stuffers.

I love the power usage of the '99 yz.

Mike,
On '96 and up Yz 125's the crank has a platic insert. This insert is crap. When the crank heats up, they melt. The stuffers allow you to rebuild the crank without paying for the whole unit. Yamaha does not sell crank parts, only full assemblies.
Check out "Crank Stuffers" here.
