Hi guys...

My idle is not consistent sometimes it settles high sometimes low but hardly ever does it consistently...

My throttle snaps back shut nicely and I'm pretty sure my jetting is all standard in reasonable order and my float levels are good

what else can i do to get this baby to settle back to a nice idle everytime ???

cheers.... :coocoo:

In my experience, there is no getting it to idle properly everytime, as the temp of the motor is a big factor and highly variable. Afterall, these things are simple carbs, not computer controlled EFI.

If you set it to idle properly when the motor is hot, it will load up and stall when it is cold. If you set it to idle properly when cold, it will idle too fast when hot.

That being said, your throttle cable may be frayed and sticking, or the slide may be worn, even if it feels like the slide is snapping back.

Throttle cables are pretty cheap, and a broken can ruin your day. Might not be a bad idea to put a new one on.

I had erratic idling on mine - it would creep higher then slow down then speed up gradually etc

Turned out to be an air leak on the main seal, flywheel side.

You can check by quirting a bit of brake cleaner behind the flywheel while bike is idling. If speed changes it's taking in air.
