Although I am a relatively new to the Michigan ORV trail system, I have been thinking some of the same thoughts about Jeramey’s contributions, and you put those thoughts into words very well. There are many talented people (volunteer and government) who help make the trail system work in Michigan, but certainly Jeramey deserves recognition. Between serving as the president of the Great Lakes Dual Sporters, cataloging (GPS) all of the trails, organizing dual sport rides (including permit work, preparing roll charts, working at sign-up, etc.), keeping up on the latest legislation, etc., well, I have a working theory that there may be multiple Jerameys (secret triplets) . . .

Jeramey is a pretty sharp individual when it comes to just about anything. Yeah he really knows all the techie stuff but more importantly he has people skills. Super good at listening to what someone says and then coming back with an intelligent answer---backed up with facts. About all I can come up with normally is "I don't know" or "oh yeah, well you're a doo doo head".

I first met him two or three years ago at the Tomahawk ride. He was there with his future inlaw's group. He had just gotten into riding bikes after being into quads for quite some time (oops, was that a secret?). I think it was one of his first dualsport rides---completely new to all of it. He came back to camp after the first day's ride pouring muddy water from both boots----I knew he was hooked! In less than a year he was running all things dualsport---taking over from the ailing DualSport Steve. He figured out how to print all the paperwork on a computer, taught us guys how to use the GPS and associated software, learned what officials you had to deal with to get each DS route approved, learned how to use the state's digital map base----and a whole bunch of other things I'm forgetting. All this in a very short period of time.
Then later on came the whole Great Lakes DualSporter's chapter and all that's associated with it. Managing the website and Yahoo group, coordinating trail maintenance for the chapter's two adopted trails, making sure we were sheltered and fed at the winter GLDS meetings.
I don't really understand it either. In addition to all of this he has a full time job, just got married a couple years ago, and just had a little baby girl (another thing we're finding out he's good at). Yes, I think he has cloned himself. ;)

HEARTY THANK YOU

to Jeramey for all his efforts in our behalf regarding the ORV community and its most valued possession ... the Michigan Trail System. Without folks like him we would not have many of the amenities we all tend to take for granted today. Our list of 'desires' for the future is the fodder upon which he feeds and will continue his efforts to extend those services for all of us in the future. His leadership is the glue that binds us to the yoke without which we would squander a significant fraction of our combined strength.

Aside from all that ... he's a darn nice guy to go riding with ...

Yes, Jeramey... thank you for all the work you've done to help our sport, working both the front lines dealing with governmental agencies, and in the trenches mapping all the trails, setting up events, managing web sites, etc.

I would have guessed that based on what you've help contribute... it WAS your full-time job!
