Yeah, in no means did I make the MC statement with disrespect. I was saying it on the lines of 1. it would suck to see him out there getting lapped by those guys (ie MJ playing making his 3rd comeback with the Wizards-not the same player as Jordan of old), 2. it would probably be hard for MC to continue with his races knowing that he is past his prime and has to settle for what talent he has left and get passed by the younger guys.
...
I made the comment because it seems that James has really stepped it up (even though last year he was very fast in SX, just missed the 1st half of the season) and is young and the other guys are in the early -mid 20's while MC is 33.
.
I think that MC is doing this because he LOVES the sport. Sure he gets some extra dough, but I am sure he still gets the attention at the races, still feels the competitve nature of the race. The thing is, he has nothing to really gain anymore but alot to lose. I dont think we will see him teetering on the edge because he has family and accomplishments already. So we end up seeing a guy race for fun who isnt going to go balls out for a championship. I think he is only racing 6 races, all on or close to the west coast. Dont get me wrong, I am sure MC will try and compete, but I think back in his mind is the simple truth that he has been there, done that, and why go bonzai to hang with the GOAT or an 18yr old up and coming... just my thoughts. I will enjoy seeing MC there, hope he does well; but would hate to see him get embarrased.

What's embarrassing about being top ten in the world at 33? I'd give whats left of my legs for that title. YZ165

I knew if anyone would find that MXA quote from McGrath fascinating, it would be Okiewan. Although, I'm sure that interview was taken before the World SuperCross Rounds (I think that's what it's called) had started this year, and McGrath got to see any of Stewarts "maturity" this year. ;)

I think McGrath said he is racing the first 6 races, and he says he wants to step into the Honda rig as a "mentor role" with the riders, and testing whatever bikes big Red wants.

I hope to see Byrne step it up, he was quite impressive in small bits last year, was first to do some combos at some of the tracks. I think he has the speed to run 4th or 5th more often than he does, hopefully he has figured out whatever has been holding him back and fixed it.

No joke. With the lineup this year, I think the 4th thru 10th positions will be hard to hold at A1. Hopefully that is where the cameras will be pointed at if someone runs away.

I sure wouldn't bet against that happening. If he runs mid pack, you can count on it. Infact, 4-5th arent safe.
I dont see MC staying on 2 wheels the entire race or making the top 10. This is a whole new level of speed plus endurance.I see RC going down / DNF and CR coming in second behind BUBBA, TEDESCO 3rd, BYRNE 4th,i dont know about K-DUB's health, the bad news is BUBBA is on top of his game now and totally unstopable. I look forward to seeing BUBBA silencing RC's weekly excuses and all those thinking he might crash out of the championship.Back to MC, since he is only racing for pride, the lites class is not a bad idea. There is no way for MC past Larocco,Fonseca, H Voss, Torteri,Nick Wey, Bucklew,Ryan Clerk, TP? plus the top 7.

JBS is at the top of his game. He will win A1.

RC will get 2nd at A1, podium every round and once again win the title.

Ivan for 3rd.

Reed 4th.

KW 5th.

Byrne 6th, and 1 lap down.

So most everyones gave up on Larocco and Fonesca as mid top 10 riders?

Okie you make a good point about MC. Is there any other professional motorsport that has a retired champion that still races a handful of events?

Wasn't MC going to create a race team of up and coming riders at one time?

RC
James (falls with big lead and almost catches RC)
Ivan (My ex-homie has impressed me)
KW
I think James wins more SX's than Ricky, But RC podiums every round and takes the title I think and hope the races will be good. If James proves me wrong and rides every week like he did in Canada I will not be on the bandwagon, but I will go to the parade and applaud

Ain't this great. For the first time in 10 years, we don't know for sure who's gonna win it!

Yeah, I mean last year almost everyone guessed that KW would win, the Rock 2nd, RC third and Reed in the bottom half of the pack. ;)

The top 2 are pretty much a given, provided Stewart doesn't self implode again and RC will be first I'm guessing. For the rest of them, it's anyone's game. Reed will most likely be third (is KW out with a broken arm now?). Wey, Fonseca, McGrath, Byrne, Tedesco, Larocco and Vuilleman will all be battling for the remainder of the top 10. Looks like the 250 class is going to have some depth to it this year.

Count KW out due to broken arm. this was on transworld this morning:

Just seen this on transworld .....

Sobe / Samsung Mobile / Honda's Kevin Windham was undergoing his last few days of scheduled testing before the holiday break when hit the dirt hard Wednesday. His front end washed out on a just-watered section of the Honda practice track in Corona, CA, and unfortunately, the result was a compound fracture of both bones in his lower left arm. The good news is that the breaks were clean, and while he's currently in surgery to repair them with plates and screws, he's expected to make a full recovery.

Until surgery is complete, there's no word yet on the when he might return to action, though there's no doubt that he'll be missing in action when the AMA Supercross class lines up on the gate at Anaheim on January 7th.

We'd like to wish Kevin a full and speedy recovery.

A lot of people thinking that Reed won't find the speed needed to battle with RC and JS.

Really? Must have missed that. Before the race everyone that I heard just knew RC would win. This year its a toss up, not only for A1, but the entire series. Although if I was bettin, I'd still go with RC. :nener:

Reesknight, I'm just being an ass. But seriously, was A1 last year the only time that KW has beaten RC in a 250 SX main? My bets on RC for the title. As for A1? Part of me has the feeling that Reed may sneak the win; he has more speed than we've seen thus far.....(I hope?)

Really? Before A1 everyone was calling RC the underdog... remember?
