I read a thread recently about the tendancy of the KX250 to rev to the moon initially on cold [and choked] startup....mine does this too, although it does run great otherwise. I read that the problem might be worn reeds.....so tonight I will be pulling out my reed cage to have a look.

My question is this....should I stick with factory reeds, or buy a Boyesen or V-force aftermarket reed setup? Any experience out there? Opinions?

Thanks

I heard that our kx250s tend to go through reeds rather quickly.(freying/chipping) Id go ahead and buy boyseen carbon fiber reeds. they last longer.

It's the design of the stock cage that causes the short reed life. The Rad Valve solves that particular problem, and also gives the bike some welcome snap down low, along with a nice gain in over-rev If you know how to jet, you won't be dissappointed with the Rad Valve on that bike.

Thanks...I have ordered a set on e-way....if I find that they don't last long either, then I will invest in an aftermarket reed cage.
