Here's one for the over 30 crowd. I was listening to it on the internet feed. La Rocket took the lead with five laps and rode to the win. The track was supposed to be one of the most technical yet.

Go Mike!

The winner this year is going to be a toss up. No clear pick as I see it. Makes racing that much more interesting.:)

It's true and it's great news.

This season is shaping up to be an exciting year. There are always a handful of guys that can win in any year, but this year it looks like they actually will win. We could easily see as many as 4 or 5 different winners in the 250 class. With any luck, the championship will be decided in the final race. I'm stoked!

Great racing!

In the 125 final, Bubba got the holeshot than promptly crashed back to last place. Pingree held him off the final lap to preserve the win. Thain apparently had bike trouble and dropped back from the front to 15th.

In the 250's, Windham and Pastrana had an early 6+ second lead on 3rd place Roncada before Windham faded big time back to 10th. Pastrana crashed out of the lead but held onto 4th even with bent bars.

For awhile, Roncada was slowing the Cobra up.

Congratulations to LaRocco! He has always been one of the fastest guys out there, and it's great to see him getting better starts so he can podium.

LaRocco won? LAROCCO WON!?!?
LAROCCO WON!!!! WOOOHOOOOO!!!! :):):)

Man, that is the best news all day (besides DRN coming back online ;) )!

And Ping held off Bubba! This is gonna be a good one to watch! Cobra must've maintained the points lead with the #2 finish, but LaRocket should be closing, right?

Free Dentures for All!
Last night was kind to the old guys, as duffers Mike LaRocco and David Pingree pulled down long-overdue wins in the 250cc and 125cc Western Region classes, respectively, at the Anaheim II Supercross.

In the 250cc division, Team Amsoil/Dr. Martens Honda’s LaRocco, who turns 31 in just a couple of weeks, grabbed a strong start and tracked down Team Yamaha’s David Vuillemin, the Frenchman who won rounds one and two. It was the Hoosier’s first win in seven years.

Vuillemin held on for second, finishing ahead of early leader Travis Pastrana, of SoBe Suzuki. Pastrana looked good at the front, but he hit neutral over a jump and crashed hard, losing his front number plate in the process. He remounted several spots back, and passed Team Honda’s Nathan Ramsey with an aggressive, last-lap maneuver to take the final podium position.

Following a poor start, defending champ Ricky Carmichael could only advance to fourth, though he said his head – dinged hard at round one – is now feeling fine. Following his late altercation with Pastrana, Ramsey rode the Team Honda CRF450R home in fifth. Chevy Trucks Kawasaki cohorts Ezra Lusk and Stephane Roncada were next, followed by Boost Mobile/Yamaha/Troy-mounted Australian Chad Reed.

Ninth went to Bud Light Yamaha’s Jeremy McGrath, who said he has been diagnosed with Compartment Syndrome (known less formally as arm-pump disease), and that he has been undergoing Rolfing treatment (less formally known as deep-tissue massage). After pulling the holeshot, SoBe Suzuki’s Kevin Windham faded to 10th.

In the 125cc ranks, KTM Red Bull’s Pingree, who celebrated his 27th birthday just over a week ago, survived a crash-filled main to notch his first win since topping the 2000 season opener in the same facility. Last week’s winner, James Stewart, was closing fast on Ramsey when the checkers flew, but he had to settle for second – not bad, considering he went down after grabbing the holeshot, and had to pass the rest of the field on his Chevy Trucks Kawasaki. Third went to Boost Mobile/Yamaha/Troy’s Ivan Tedesco, followed by The Racer’s Edge rider Casey Lytle and Kawasaki pilot Matt Walker.
And it looks like Mike is 5 points out of first (Dave V - 72, LaRocco - 67) :)

WOOOHOOOO! :)

One for the old guys! Mike pulled off a convincing win. I was pretty impressed with Ping, too. Bubba reeled him in quickly, but Ping stepped it up enough to keep him at bay. What a race!

Free Dentures for All!

Exactly.
It's interesting, really. Peak physical and cardiovascular fitness capability (I should say) occurs at 30 y/age in males. Huh? Yep, that's right. Hence, all the winning marathon runners are in their 30's. Their not 16 year olds.

Not so in many of our sports, mainly because so much physical trauma occurs before that age comes, or psychological deterioration ensues, or drugs, fame, you name it.

You take that one guy, like a LaRocco--who's not only able to "preserve" his body form through all these years, but what's between his ears as well, and suddenly he's flat out awesome. I'm sure there was some "lassitude" and mental battles he's had to overcome over the years, what with his sustaining this for so long. But now, he looks to be in pure form. Now he is not only one of the leanest, meanest out there, but he's confident AND he's a vet that knows all the tricks. :p

I think the success of these young'n's like Pastrana & Bubba are at least partially based on their "fluid stupidity"--wreckless abandon & teenage "belief" that they are the greatest and shouldn't be beaten, while the midcareer "normalization" of performance of riders like LaRocco comes from their realization that they indeed, CAN be beat and they are not invincible.

It takes years to make a LaRocco.

Alright you young'n's--bring it on.
Let the wits "unarmed" assault begin.

YEA, LaRocco. Lets hear it for the old farts. :)

Have to admit though, if Pastrana figures out how to keep it upright for the whole race, he will be hard to beat.

One more lap and Bubba would have won the 125's. IMO.
The kid is awesome.

Too bad we couldn't see this one live. The webcast is cool, but it doesn't compare to video.

One more thing...

Name that pic: fugly

1,2 or 3:

1) Who can wear a more shocking outfit than Bubba?
2) White boy has no taste?
3) I'm fast, so stick it.:silly:

THAT is the butt-UGLIEST thing I've ever seen. And no one said a damn thing about it.

This is great! Way to go Mike! I'm so excited for this year. I really hope it goes down to the last round! I can see any of 4 riders (Mike, David V, TP, RC) winning the championship this year, and any of like 7 or 8 riders winning a race! I hate to say it, but now I really think MC is done, I said this before, but I figured I would give him one more race to change his results. Now I just really believe it is over. This is going to be a really great year. I don't know which one of the 4 that I mentioned will win it all, but I think it will be 1 of them for sure. I think both Mike and DV will have 1 bad race like back in 10th or something, and that will get RC and TP closer in points and then it will be wide open. I know The Rock is very consistant, so maybe he won't have one really bad race, but maybe some just out of the top 5 to get TP and RC up there with them. Wouldn't it be cool if it went to the last round and any of 4 riders could win it!
