What a thrill to hear this one live! At the interview, Mike was quick to point out that he is NOT the oldest 250 main winner---that distinction still goes to John Dowd.:D

La Rocket definatley earned that win. And how about Ping, my hats off to him also after all the bad press he has gotten and people saying he would never win another supercross race. Things are already shapping up for what might be the most exciting season ever!!!!!

Pred, I'm not a fan of brown either, but Kevin's gear looked really cool when he was on the bike I thought.

Saturday night: My Raiders get hosed by some senile ref, ending my chance to see a Raider/Steeler AFC title game. :(

Sunday, I get taken out by some out of control Honda.

Sunday night: I come home to find out LaRocco won!!! Everthings better now!!!!

When I was listening to the race and ML was catching Vuillemin I thought, he's(Larocco) has the time to catch him. And then when he took the lead I pretty much said, "Well this ones over". With the way Larocco rides at the end of a race I knew that no one would get him. Simply incredible, its been a long time coming for him and no one deserves it more. Plus now that he has won, put that with his consistency and he looks to be a favorite for the title, although DV is riding great, I just don't seem him keeping his pace all year. This has the makings to be a truly great series. I never thought I'd see gear that made me think Bubba's pink was ok, but Windham's brown and TP's uhh...Lemon Lime were NASTY. Yuck. I could use them for good hunting camo, but they're too ugly to even wear in the woods. I'm happy for Ping too, hes been fast this year but hasn't been able to stay up, well last night he did. Hey Okie...didn't you say that Ping wouldn't win this year? Even as a Ping fan I don't put alot of faith in him, but he looked good last night, although Bubba is clearly the fastest rider in the class.

I've been waiting for this result almost as long as LaRocco has. Congrats Mike, way to go, put together a couple more and go for the championship!!!!

Just a few more thoughts, to see where others stand on this.

1) Anyone else sick of hearing how "talented" a rider Windham is? On the webcast, Holly was saying he & McGrath were talking a number of years back and McGrath said something like "Wouldn't it be great to have Windham's talent for just one day?" I'll tell you what he's GREAT at: FAAAADIIIIINNGG. 1st to 10th? (for the nth time)--you're kidding.:silly: Sure, he may be a natural talent, but it means nothing if he can't get his "head injury" fixed. Not that he isn't (a talent), I'm just sick of hearing about it & seeing him get flogged every race. I'm sure there are multiple Windham fans here that will rebutt, but enough already.

2) How about the 4 stroke "fade"--what happened to Thain's bike? Remember Ward in the nationals last year when he developed a "hole" in his airbox & faded? I'm not "bagging" 4 strokes anymore, primarily because we all know they are the way of the future & the technology is great. The problem is complexity. It's an old lesson that goes way back. If you had your choice on the battlefront, for instance, between an AK47 & an M-16 (or derivative), what would you lay your life on? Simplicity rules in the heat of battle. You want something that works, works consistently, and is reliable with very repeatable results. The faster you wanna make a 4 stroke, the more technology you've got to throw at it. The more tech. you throw at it, generally the less reliable it becomes. For instance, lighter springs and aggressive camshaft lobe profiles increase the risk of valve float and/or spring failure. Not true for the 2 smoke. All it takes is one failure out of a series of races, and the championship is adios. I think as long as the 2 stroke is allowed to be run, the fastest riders will continue to rely on them. Again, I don't want to stir up conflict here, just my observation. I, myself, am starting to fall for the 4 strokes.

3) I think the Honda does not fit Ricky's riding style at Supercross, but will do nothing but improve his outdoor results. I'd go as far as to predict his recurrent domination of Nationals this year. Moreso than last year. However, his choppy, aggressive & "push" style is not well-supported by the Honda chassis in Supercross. This year, the smoother riders (like the king of smooth IMO, DV) are ruling, irregardless of chassis. Well, except TP, for some reason he's able to push it successfully (sometimes).

4) I agree with Emig on his assesment of MC. He's not gonna come out and be the old MC "suddenly", it's gonna take time for him to loosen up. I'd be willing to bet by midseason, he'll be back up front. He IS, after all, improving slowly.

Just my opinion--flame away.

Actually, it was Jimmy Button harkening back to he, MC, and Doug Henry watching Windham on the Yamaha test track. Certainly you can appreciate the beauty of his riding if the best SX racer in history can.
