Drove down Friday afternoon to meet CJ for the 2nd time, and hubby, Will, for the 1st time. OMG! Their home is gorgeous!! All windows, set in the mountains, surrounded by pine trees, 2 blocks from the nearest trailhead!....<sigh of envy!>

Apparently, their hobby is taking in strange people from the internet! :aj: They also had another guest there, Scott, from another forum...They took us in like lost puppies, fed us (Will, you're a great cook!), gave us beer, and entertained us with riding videos on Friday night.

Did a morning ride on the Divide system on Sat., an afternoon ride on the Rainbow Falls system, and a Sun morning ride at Rampart. Two more riders joined the group for the Sunday morning ride - I think they were from a forum too! Lots of great riding and great company. CJ led on Saturday...That woman is FAST on her new KX100! It fits her to a tee....CJ took the Pampera on Sunday tho and she played sheep herder at the back of the pack to make sure we didn't lose anyone....:silly: Wine and lasagna and the local family restaurant Sat. night. Sunday's ride (Rampart trail 650 for those who know it) was all up and down crushed granite (parts of it deep, slick stuff) with whoops out the waaazoooo - my poor knees are feeling it this morning! Back home Sunday afternoon to wash the bike, soak in the tub and sleep!

I didn't embarass myself as much as I thought I would! Pampera took everything in stride - I just need to be able to take everything in stride now! :aj: All in all, an absolutely wonderful weekend.

Thanks again guys!
Hey CJ - I'll be ready again by next weekend! :aj:

That CJ chick gets around!!!!! ;)

Yup, sometimes I just go around in circles 'en git kinda dizzy! ;)

For some strange reason, riding is REALY getting fun this year. Maybe it's 'cause I'm finally not intimidated by everything; or maybe it's 'cause some bikes actually fit; but ACTUALLY it's 'cause I found some AWESOME PEOPLE to go riding with!!! Yup, that's it!!!

Katie- 'Can't wait for another ride this weekend! (Although, it's good we have a week inbetween because muscles hurt right now; LOL!)

CJ - WOW - and I thought you were feeling just fine! :p
Remember when you asked about next weekend, and I looked at you like you were out of your mind!?? I was sooo tired and sore that I was thinking no way, not again!
But the forecast shows cold and snow on Friday!? What's up with that???!!!

Ain't it great to find new people to ride with AND new confidence in riding!

Karl was teasing me last night telling me that I was twisting the throttle much harder on the 500 than I had before and it must be from riding my son's 80. The little 80 has nothing until you get to the top end - no grunt, no poop then ZZZZIIIINNNGGGG!!

I know I felt much more confident on our little outing, but I think it's more a function of what I learned last season than a hangover from zipping around on the 80. But, if it's the 80 then my son better watch out!

It sounds like a lot of fun going on in Colorado!
I wish I were somewhere close to you all.

CJ, congratulations on your new bike! I want to know the comparison between Pampera and KX100.
I haven't ridden my XR200 since I got the KDX220.... my poor XR200...

Anyway, it is nice to know that you all are having fun there.
I'm a little jealous.....

CJ and Will are the BEST!!
We'll have to make CJ and Will a sign for their home: THE DRN B&B

Ditto what CJ said - finding awesome riding partners and having a bike I'm comfortable on is really making this *THE* season. And there's nothing like spring in Colorado!!

Okie's thread about spring and riding almost had me in tears.....(I'm sooo sentimental it's disgusting!) Riding, springtime, family, getting the kids to stop riding at dark, camping - I'm THERE! This is OUR season - the kids are all getting bikes, John's taking the summer off from school and being a full-time stay-at-home daddy to all our kids (3 his, 2 mine) and I'm taking some 3- and 4-day weekends and joining them at the track on weeknights...

Come on bbbbom, Firelily, and GETMETOCA - let's do Colorado!

Good plan, FireLily! We love to have guests! We love to BE guests too so you can be sure we'll head further west to meet up with you folks again too.

Katie- 'Looks like maybe some snow in the mountains this weekend, but maybe Pueblo would be good. Let's keep an eye on the weather! Will dragged me up another hillclimb last night that's easier than the one we didn't make, but harder than the one we did make. 'Looks like we'll have to get back up there and try some more when the snow clears out again! (We'll be following you up hillclimbs soon, Pegasus!)

(Too many people in my cube today so I can't type too much. POO!)

I would one day LOVE to go to Colorado. My parents took my sis and I on this three week camping/backpacking trip to Colorado and I turned 5 on that trip. Still have pictures of it - good memories, I will have to ask my Dad where we actually were and pull out the maps. I can remember all four of us piled in the front of the Ford Pickup driving all that way from California.

I also remember Colorado being ultra beautiful and the air smelled great...I guess I need to go back and relive a good childhood memory!!

Katie? Me thinks you left some details out of the weekend in the above post... :p :p

Like the FACT THAT YOU TRIED TO KILL ME!

or the

FACT THAT YOU TRIED TO DROWN ME!

then there's the

FACT THAT YOU TAUGHT CJ YOUR EVIL NASTY WAYS AND NOW SHE'S TRYING TO KILL ME TOO!

:D

Lesson learned: Always check to see if the gas is turned on when a woman hands you her bike and says it won't start... :p

Data, warp 7!! Worf, I need full shields now!

OH...you're in trouble now!

Ok. I see. You want war?! :p HEHEHE!

I'll admit to the GAS thing....sheeesh, that was COLD!!

and I'll admit to the DROWNING!!!! THAT was FUN! :p HEHEHEHEHE!

BUT, I WON'T admit to the TRYING TO KILL YOU!??!??!?!?!?!
Nah, you got it ALL wrong! You just wouldn't get out of my WAY!!!

Lesson for you, *baby* (dripping with sarcasm!): Never, ever get in the way of a woman who is determined to make the hillclimb..... :aj:

CJ? We wouldn't want to kill him would we??? He's too sweet and helpful and nice to have around, and makes dinner, and black-and-tans, and, and....huh?? :p

Let the wars begin!

Why, whatever do you mean, sweetie? You would be referring to Monday night when we went so far as to change the spark plug... when it was actually just my gas turned off? No, it couldn't be THAT! Katie never taught me that one; that smooth move is simply instinctive and not learned! :)
