My anti virus software will not delete this virus because it's not allowed access to the folder. I think that message means that the file is in use, so there would be a process taking place. I have Windows XP and have not been successful finding this process or in editing the registry to get rid of the virus. Anyone hav any experience with this? It's called the "backdoor Sdbot" and its a Trojan if anyone knows what that is. Any help appreciated. PS I've updated Norton Anti-Virus so my definitions are up to date, it's just that the program won't allow access to fix it.

Here is a LINK telling you about the virus and how to get rid of it. As it states near the bottom of the article without knowing what else the trojan exploiter has compromised I would lean towards reformatting my HD and reinstalling the operating system.

Yep, thats a good one ya got there. And you're right, it has a running process so you cant remove it until you shut it down.

Trojans aren't typically hard to remove. It may help if you know how to edit the registry. If all else fails. Reformat.

See if this helps---->

Also, put "backdoor Sdbot" into a google search and see what else you can find.

Hope that helps

You can use KILL.EXE to terminate a process. It has shut down errant programs for me when everything else has failed. The utility comes with various Windows Resource Kits. Let me know if you can't get/find it, and I'll see if I have a CD with it on it.
