Hi!

I'm new to DRN. I live in Southern California and I've been riding for about a year now. I started on a TTR125, but after a few months I moved up to my 200cc GasGas. I ride a lot with my boyfriend, and although I don't have a lot of experience, I love to do technical trails and I try to improve my technical riding skills. Are there any women riders out there that ride in Los Padres, Jawbone, Rowher Flats etc?

Welcome to DRN GasGas77.

We have several ladies that ride in the So Cal area. Check out the General Chapter Information forum. Go to 'Western Chapters' and click on 'SoCalWreckingCrew'.

Most organized rides are posted in there and you and your boyfriend are welcome to join us.

We even have a couple of guys that like to dress like ladies, but that's a story for another time. :coocoo: :rotfl:

Hey GG. I"m what they call a "Lo-Cal" chick because I'm down here in the SD area. I just rode Mojave for the first time and thought it was AWESOME! The SoCal Western Chapter in here is cool, and I met some great people from it. I highly recommend that you check out socal-dirtriders.com and hook up with some of us. There are at least 2 or 3 guys that live out by you. I know this weekend (Easter) we're going to Johnson Valley - I don't know if that's close to you, but it would be great for you to come along.

I'm a beginner rider, it would be nice to hang with you - maybe I could almost keep up and not feel like a total loser, which has become usual practice these days. I really wish there were more beginners around me, it's tough to ride with the big boys (most of whom hate me for being pokey and unskilled). *sigh* I'm whiny, sorry, but I just had a tough weekend with 6 highly skilled boys and lil' ole me. It didn't go so well. :(

Hi Tinkrides

It would be fun to ride with you. I also ride with the "big guys", and they always have to wait for me all the time. I can almost ride anywhere they're riding, only a lot slower...
Unfortunately I'm busy this week, got family visiting from Norway, but I would like to ride out there with you some day! Let me know if you're planning another trip to the "So-Cal" area!

:ride: GG - I had a BLAST in Johnson Valley this last weekend. I really hope to do some more riding up your way. I'll post over here if anything else comes up. Check out the other site - they've always got something going! I'm sure we'll be up yonder again soon (I hope).

Hey GasGas77,

I live in Southern Cal and we ride Mojave, Kennedy Meadows, Pozo and Gorman/Frasier Park. We only get out about once a month, but you are welcome to join us whenever we ride. I've been riding for a few years, but am still pretty slow. I ride with the "big boys" too and they always have to wait for me. We usually do a "me and the boys ride" and then they go off and do a boys only ride. I feel bad sometimes because they have to wait all the time, but they're a great bunch of guys and always make me feel ok about it. My bfriend is really patient and a great teacher and rider. It would be nice to have a gal to ride with, so let me know.

I just got my girlfriend a TTR-125 & once I get her all up to speed will want her to meet other riders who don't necessarily embrace the "brutal is best" theory of off-road riding (Kiwi?)

I started on a TTR-125 too. That's a great beginner bike, and it can tractor up a lot of stuff. I was a little less eager than my boyfriend to move me up to a full size bike, but now I'm loving it. It's a GasGas 200, that we lowered and put a flywheel weight on. That makes it feel more like a four stroke. I would prefer a four stroke if they weren't so d.. heavy.
Have fun!

Great. I look forward to hearing from you. I've been busy with my finals lately, but now I'm all up for riding.

That sounds great! I would love to ride with you. Sorry for such a late reply, I've been busy with my finals, but soon school will be out, and I'll be back on the trails. My boyfriend and I will go riding somewhere in the local area on Memorial day. You're more than welcome to join us!

We try not to ride on holiday weekends because it gets pretty crowded out on the trails, but thanks for the invite. Let me know when you guys go out again and I'll let you know when we go.
